I’m Cheap. How Can I Do This Misspelled Thing, For Free?

Here’s how you can do it yourself for free using eBay’s search engine:

If you want to search for variations of misspelling of “Microsoft Word,” and what to ignore proper spellings of “Microsoft” on eBay:

On search Line enter:

Mic* Word -Microsoft

Then, look through the returned list and refine the search to get rid of common Mic words that are returned:

Mic* Word -Microsoft –Michael

Mic* Word -Microsoft -Michael –mickey

This shows 1 available auction with a misspelled word:

When you get a successful search, you then save the search by clicking on the “Add to Favorite Searches” Link.

This will take you to a standard eBay page where you can specify that you want to save a new search string or replace an existing search string (use the replace option when you need to further refine your search term). This is where you specify that you want eBay to notify you by e-mail when new listings are placed. Specify the length of time that you want eBay to notify you for.

Once you have saved your new search, anytime someone enters an incorrect spelling for a product you have specified a search for, you will be automatically notified of the misspelled listing.

As necessary, you can further refine your search to look for office products, and then use the same “*” feature to eliminate common words you don’t want:

Mic* Office -Microsoft -mickey -post -star -mich* -microphone -mice -mac –microscope
