Blocking Bidders
As we’ll discuss in the next section, Monitor Your Auction, there will be times when someone is bidding on your auction that you would prefer wasn’t. Maybe they have bad feedback scores. Maybe their feedback scores are = 0. Maybe some communication from that bidder has made you leery about their bidding on your auction. Whatever your reason, eBay provides a means where you can block bidders and cancel bids made by bidders who you do not want involved with your auction. Here are a few tools provided by eBay:
- Block Bidder/Buyer List – This list contains the eBay ID’s of bidders you do not want to bid on your auctions. Buyers on this list will be excluded from all of your auctions, unless you remove them from this list or add their name to the Buyer Block Exemption List.
- Buyer Block Exemption List – If during the setup of your auction you indicated that a buyer must have a positive feedback score, had to be registered in your country, and/or had not received 2 Unpaid Item strikes in the last 30 days, you can still allow a bidder to bid if you include their eBay ID in the Buyer Block Exemption List.

- Cancel Bids on Your Listing – If you decide that someone has placed a bid on your auction that seems risky, you can cancel their bid on your auction. If you are running several auctions, make sure that you add the bidder to your Block Bidder/Buyer list as they may decide to retaliate in some one on one of your other auctions. Once blocked, their bid cannot be reinstated. Also make sure that you provide a reasonable explanation for cancellation

- Pre-approved Bidder/Buyer List – Another way to block bidders is to create a list containing the bidders who can participate in your auction. Anyone not on the Pre-approved Bidder/Buyer List who wants to bid on your auction will have to contact you for permission. If you agree that they are qualified, you will add their name to the Pre-approved Bidder/Buyer list, allowing them to participate in your auctions.
