EBay Really is the Good Guy!
eBay is not this vicious ogre that is hovering over every account, just waiting for the account owner to make a mistake so that they can strike and kill. They ‘do’ want to ensure that the auction marketplace that they operate in is a safe place for the buyer, as well as the seller. To ensure this auction environment, as well as ensure that they do not invite legal review of their business practices, they also will lean towards the side of ‘safe’ rather than risk their reputation in the business environment.
So what can you do?
- If ‘you’ think it is questionable, don’t violate your own conscience. Avoid it.
- Even if you see someone else doing something, it may still be a violation of eBay policy. It very well may be that that person just hasn’t been caught. May times violations are caught by people visiting sites and reporting violations rather than eBay personnel spotting the violation.
- Review the eBay Rules and Policies
page. Get to know what is allowed and what’s not. Many eBay violations are caught by keywords you use when you list your auction, but with careful wording you might be able to get around a policy. IT’S NOT WORTH IT! DON’T DO IT!
